Anita Mui stated in his will that he would leave his property in London and Hongkong to Liu Peiji. Liu Peiji, one of Anita Mui's best friends, has been in charge of Anita Mui's costume design since 1982, including the white cheongsam at Anita Mui's funeral.

On February 30th, 2003, 65438, Anita Mui died at the age of 40. At the beginning of 2004, Anita Mui's mother, Tan Meijin, insisted that Anita Mui signed the will unconsciously, so the court should invalidate the will and hope to get an inheritance of 1 100 million yuan. After filing a lawsuit with the court, this inheritance dispute began.

In March 2006 and August 2007, Anita Mui's brother Mei Qiming and his mother Tan Meijin took the executor, attending doctor and beneficiary of the estate to court, questioning that the three parties colluded to deceive Anita Mui into making a will and stealing his estate. Regarding the accusation of the Mei family, the three defendants insisted that Anita Mui was conscious when he made his will, and did not leave his inheritance to his mother because he was worried that her mother was not good at managing money and did not support her after spending all her inheritance.

For more than seven years from 2004 to 20 1 1, Anita Mui's mother, Tan Meijin, repeatedly appealed and failed.

On 2011May 10, the Hong Kong High Court issued the final judgment, and Anita Mui's mother Tan Meijin lost the case again. On July 18, Mei Tan Meijin was still unconvinced that A-mei's "legacy case" was finally lost in the Court of Final Appeal, and a banner was hung in front of the head office of a bank in Central to show her dissatisfaction.
