Gansu Agricultural University, located in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Gansu Provincial People's Government, a high-level university in Gansu Province, and one of the 100 central and western universities under state key construction. It was selected into the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions, the education and training plan of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents, the national postgraduate project of building a high-level university, and the national key discipline project.

Northwest University for Nationalities, located in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, is a full-time undergraduate college directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China. It was jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Education, the China Academy of Sciences and the Gansu Provincial People's Government.
