Gu Mingyuan, honorary professor of Beijing Normal University, believes that this book, as the research result of the project entrusted by Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Education, not only summarizes the development of education in China in the past five years, but also explores the direction and provides ideas for future education reform.
The book points out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the net enrollment rate of primary schools, the gross enrollment rate of secondary schools and the gross enrollment rate of higher education in China have all achieved steady growth, and the degree of educational equity has been significantly improved. Compared with developed countries, the gap between the average years of education and the completion rate of higher education in China has further narrowed. By the end of 20 16, the gross enrollment rate of preschool education in China was 77.4%, the consolidation rate of compulsory education was 93.4%, the gross enrollment rate of senior high school was 87.5%, and the gross enrollment rate of higher education was 42.7%. China's overall development level ranked among the top in the world. The proportion of public education investment in GDP has always remained above 4%, gradually approaching the average level of G20 countries. The matching degree between education and economy increased from 3.8 1 in 20 12 to 4.59 in 20 15, and the contribution rate to economic and social development increased strongly.
