Nantong University, referred to as "Tongda", is located in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. The school is a comprehensive university jointly established by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Transport. At the peak of the construction of high-level universities in Jiangsu, it is planned to build B-type universities, and the national pilot universities of "excellent doctoral education and training plan" and "excellent teacher training plan".
The school was founded in 19 12, which originated from the private Nantong Medical College and the private Nantong Textile Institute founded by Mr. Zhang Jian, a famous industrialist, educator and politician in modern times. In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Nantong Medical College, Nantong Institute of Technology and Nantong Teachers College merged to form a new Nantong University.
