What is the academic achievement of quintilian, the greatest educational thinker in Rome?
Quintilian (about 35 ~ 100) is the greatest educator, thinker, famous defender and rhetoric professor in the history of Roman education. He was born in Spain and later went to Rome, specializing in eloquence and rhetoric. He was the first educator in Rome to receive government funding, and was awarded the honorary title of consul by the imperial government for his meritorious service in running a school. In 96 AD, quintilian wrote The Education of Speakers, which was divided into 12 volumes, comprehensively summarized the successful experience of ancient western teaching practice, and systematically expounded his own set of educational thoughts. The Education of Speakers is the first book devoted to the study of educational theory in the history of western education, which also established quintilian's immortal position in the history of western education.

The purpose of quintilian's education is to cultivate speakers with the highest moral accomplishment, so he put forward a set of educational programs that have great influence on later generations. Quintilian believes that a person should receive a good family education from childhood and be influenced by pure morality. Quintilian attaches great importance to the value of school education, and thinks that children can become successful speakers only after learning in primary schools, middle schools and rhetoric schools. Quintilian also attaches great importance to the role of teachers and the cultivation of students' creativity, but he also strongly condemns teachers' corporal punishment of students. He believes that teachers should pursue knowledge all their lives, constantly enrich themselves and use reasonable educational methods in order to cultivate better students.

Quintilian is a master of the educational experience of ancient Greece and Rome, and the modern western educational model is actually established according to his educational theory.
