Hefei University, located in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, is a city-oriented ordinary institution of higher learning jointly organized by the state and local governments and jointly built by provinces and cities. Formerly known as Hefei United University, it was founded by Zheng Rui, then secretary of Hefei Municipal Committee, and Mr. Yang Chengzong, vice president of China University of Science and Technology. In March 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the former Hefei Union University, Hefei Education College and Hefei Normal College merged to form Hefei College. In May, 2020, the Ministry of Education's Letter of Feedback on the Mid-term Adjustment of the Setting Plan of Ordinary Colleges and Universities in the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan (Department of Education and Development [2065 438+09] 193) agreed that Hefei College should be renamed Hefei College. Relevant departments directly under the Hefei Municipal Government have made efforts to complete relevant work according to the List of Tasks for Renaming Hefei College to Hefei University formulated by the municipal government meeting, and the renaming of Hefei College to Hefei University is progressing in an orderly manner.
