Soft science is a group of highly comprehensive emerging disciplines formed by the intersection and gradual development of modern natural science, technical science, social science, thinking science and philosophy.
The important feature of soft science is to comprehensively use the knowledge and means of modern science and technology such as decision-making theory, systematic method and computing technology, and study the regularity of various complex natural phenomena and social problems from the internal relations among various social links such as economy, science and technology, management and education, so as to find out various solutions to these problems and provide scientific decision-making basis for relevant development strategies, principles and policies, planning and design, and organization and management.
Soft science research is an interdisciplinary and multi-level scientific research activity with the goal of realizing scientific decision-making, democratization and management modernization, and promoting sustained and coordinated development of economy, science and technology and society, aiming at the complex and systematic problems raised in decision-making and management practice, comprehensively applying multidisciplinary knowledge such as natural science, social science and engineering technology, and using qualitative and quantitative methods of systematic analysis and demonstration.
