By the end of 20021,there were four public high schools in Chenzhou: Chenzhou No.1 Middle School (including No.1 Middle School North Campus), Chenzhou No.2 Middle School, Chenzhou No.3 Middle School and Chenzhou Xiangnan Middle School.

Chenzhou No.1 Middle School, founded in 1906, is a century-old prestigious school, the first batch of provincial key (demonstration) middle schools and experimental middle schools in Hunan Province, and is headed by Chenzhou Education Bureau.

Chenzhou No.2 Middle School was founded in 1943, and 1978 was identified as a provincial key middle school. 1984 was officially listed as a "key middle school in Hunan Province" and was listed as a "model ordinary high school in Hunan Province" in September 2004. Directed by Suxian District Education Bureau.

Chenzhou No.3 Middle School was founded in 1946, and 1960 was designated as the key middle school in Chenzhou. Now it is a demonstration middle school in Hunan Province and a traditional sports school in Hunan Province. It is headed by Beihu District Education Bureau.

Chenzhou Xiangnan Middle School, founded in 2005, is a modern school with high standards. Directed by Suxian District Education Bureau.
