Origin: sensory integration was initiated by Dr. Ayers of the University of Southern California in the United States in 1972. She believes that sensory integration is the ability of the body to effectively use its senses in the environment, obtain information from different sensory pathways from the environment and input it into the brain. The brain analyzes the input information many times, comprehensively processes it and makes adaptive responses. Sensory integration education is a comprehensive subject involving pedagogy, medicine, psychology and physical education.
Concept: sensory integration refers to the coordinated learning process between brain and body. It refers to the ability of the body to effectively use its own senses in the environment, through the integration of seven senses (mainly visual, auditory, olfactory, taste, tactile, vestibular balance and proprioception) and input them into the brain, and then the brain processes its information and makes an adaptive response, which is called "synesthesia" for short.
