Advantages and disadvantages of Locke's gentleman education
Locke's theoretical system of gentleman education includes the discussion of educational function, educational purpose, educational content and methods.

First, the role of education. Based on the whiteboard theory, Locke spoke highly of the great role of education in the formation of human beings and the role of education in social development.

Second, the educational purpose. In Locke's view, an English gentleman must have the four basic qualities of "morality, intelligence, courtesy and knowledge" and be a "virtuous, useful and capable person"

Third, the content of education. Locke clearly divided education into moral education, intellectual education and physical education for the first time in the history of education.

Fourth, the principles and methods of education. In the method of moral education, Locke attaches importance to the "early practice" of morality, emphasizes the important role of early moral practice in children's moral development, and opposes moral education for children and letting children remember moral rules.
