Shaanxi Normal University, referred to as Shaanxi Normal University and Shaanxi Normal University for short, is located in xi City, Shaanxi Province. It is a key comprehensive normal university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and ranks among the national "double-class" construction universities, "Project 2 1 1".

The national teacher education innovation platform has been selected into the national "11plan", "201/plan", the excellent teacher training plan, the national public graduate program to build a high-level university, the national college students' cultural quality education base, the China government scholarship receiving institution for overseas students, and the national deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education.

Founding member of China-Russia Education University Alliance, New Silk Road University Alliance, Chang 'an Alliance and West Normal University Teacher Education Innovation and Development Alliance, the first batch of pilot universities for national education system reform, and the national pilot universities for free education for normal students.

It is the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding units in China, and it is an important base for the country to train teachers, educational management cadres and other senior professionals in universities and technical secondary schools.

The school was founded in 1944, formerly known as Shaanxi Normal University and the Education Department of Northwest University College of Literature, and 1954 was renamed xi 'an Normal University. 1960 merged with Shaanxi Normal University and was named Shaanxi Normal University. 1978 was placed under the management of the Ministry of Education.

As of March 2023, the school has two campuses, Chang 'an and Yanta, covering an area of more than 2,800 mu, with a paper collection of 4 1 1 1,000 volumes; There are 25 colleges (departments),/kloc-0 basic experimental teaching centers and ethnic education colleges, offering 7/kloc-0 undergraduate majors.

There are 23 first-level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 37 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, doctor's degree authorization points 1, master's degree authorization points 20, and postdoctoral research mobile stations 18. There are 2002 full-time teachers and 29467 full-time students, including 8506 undergraduates/kloc-0, 8996 postgraduates and 965 doctoral students/kloc-0.
