Haikou Institute of Economics, located in Haikou City, Hainan Province, referred to as "Haijing" for short, is a multi-disciplinary full-time undergraduate college with economics and management as its major and arts, science, engineering and art coexisting. It is the first privately-run undergraduate college in Hainan Province.
Founded in 1974, the school has gone through the development stages of Haikou Vocational College and Haikou Economic Vocational and Technical College. In 2004, it was recognized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Construction as a national pilot university for training architectural skilled talents. In March 2008, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
On May 20 12, it passed the evaluation of the right to award bachelor's degrees and became a bachelor's degree awarding unit. In June, 20021year, after research and approval by the Ministry of Education, the Education Department of Hainan Province determined Haikou University of Economics as the first batch of provincial demonstration and application-oriented undergraduate colleges.
By April, 2022, the total campus area of the school was 1 156700 square meters, the total construction area was 735300 square meters, the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment was 654.38+5.86 million yuan, the collection of paper books16.24 million copies and 39 100 kinds of electronic periodicals.
There are 16 secondary colleges, 2 teaching departments, 53 undergraduate majors and 19 specialist majors; Faculty 1322, including full-time teachers 1052 and full-time students/25308, including undergraduates 16237.
