Parents have a great reaction to the different test results. Every parent is very concerned about their children's intellectual development, and everyone wants their children to be smart and healthy. I am very happy when I know that my child's IQ is over 120. If the child's IQ is below 80, I will be depressed and even vent my unpleasant emotions on the child. This mood soon affected the children. Although the results of IQ test make teachers happy and parents sad, teachers and parents completely ignore the main body of IQ test-children. No one can consider their feelings from the perspective of children.
Therefore, we need to know more about IQ measurement.
China currently uses two intelligence test methods:
Screening method:
This is a relatively simple, fast and economical method. Children with developmental or intellectual problems can be screened out in a short time. At present, they are mainly used for:
Denver developmental screening test Test Scale (DDST) tests children's personal-social adaptation, fine motor-adaptation, language and large-scale exercise, and is suitable for children aged 0-6 years.
Gesell Development Diagnostic Scale (GDDS), which includes exercise, adaptation, speech and social response. Suitable for children from 4 weeks to 3 years old.
Bailey Infant Development Scale (BSID) includes intelligence scale, exercise scale and infant behavior record form. Suitable for children of 2-3 months.
If the above screening tests are unqualified or suspicious, further diagnostic evaluation is needed.
Intelligence test:
Picture vocabulary test (for 4~8 years old), 40 intelligence tests (for 7~ 12 years old), Wechsler intelligence scale for children, Wechsler intelligence scale for school age, drawing test (for 4~ 12 years old). At present, IQ is mainly measured from the following aspects: language, numbers, images and operation. In fact, children's intelligence is far from being summarized in these aspects. What's more, intelligent measurement is limited and influenced by many conditions: first, the personnel who measure IQ must undergo professional and formal training, and the environment for IQ measurement requires quiet and comfortable, and even there are strict regulations on light, indoor equipment, temperature and humidity. In addition, the speed of speech, tone, eyes, etc. It may have an impact on children. Children's emotions, attitudes and past life experiences will all affect the test results. Therefore, IQ test is by no means something that anyone can do casually under any environmental conditions. The clinical judgment is as follows:
A genius is a person whose IQ is greater than 1 and 140.
2. Excellent intelligence between120-140.
3. Excellent intelligence between110-120.
4. The average intelligence is between 90- 1 10 (most people)
Low intelligence between 5.80 and 90.
6, and there are some defects in intelligence between 70 and 80.
7, and finally less than 70 belongs to low energy.
For some children who need to be tested for medical reasons, parents should also understand that the intelligence test is not to see whether the child is smart or not, but to see how the child's intellectual development and intellectual structure are. Only in this way can we know the problems existing in children's intellectual development and structure, and help children to promote their intellectual development purposefully at an early stage.
Some parents and educators can't treat the results of children's IQ tests correctly. Children at this stage can't know themselves correctly, but judge themselves through the comments of outsiders. For example, for a child with high IQ, parents and teachers will think that he is smart, and children will think that they are born smart, so they will not study hard; For some children with low IQ, parents and teachers may think that children are stupid and depressed. Don't you know that the result of teachers and parents' doing this has seriously hit children's self-esteem, making them doubt themselves, lose confidence in themselves and think that they are really mentally retarded, thus giving up on themselves and hindering their intellectual development; Inferiority will accompany the child for life.
From 65438 to 0983, Howard gardner, a professor at Harvard University Graduate School, believed that intelligence is "the physical and psychological potential of an individual to process information in a cultural environment, which can be activated by the cultural environment to solve practical problems and create products cherished by culture". At the same time, he also put forward that "intelligence is not visible to the naked eye, nor can it be measured by some standard, but potential, which is the potential development ability of the central nervous system." This intellectual potential may or may not be activated, and whether this potential can be activated depends on the environment and education in a particular culture. " He also believes that "human intelligence is diverse, and we should look at the concept of" intelligence "more broadly. Every child is unique, intelligent and capable of becoming a genius in some fields. No one is omnipotent, and no one is incompetent. " At the same time, he proposed the theory of multiple intelligences. It is believed that human beings have many kinds of intelligence: language intelligence, mathematical logic intelligence, spatial intelligence, body movement intelligence, music intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, self-cognitive intelligence and natural cognitive intelligence. Professor Gardner further explained how to understand multiple intelligences:
First, the eight intelligences in multiple intelligences are independent of each other. One kind of intelligence is very good, and the other may be very poor. Few people can have everything.
Second: Everyone has different innate intelligence combinations. For example, some people are very strong in Chinese and music, but they are particularly poor in social interaction. Therefore, it is necessary to find out everyone's best intelligence combination through evaluation;
Third: Every kind of intelligence has a certain critical period of age, after which it is difficult to develop. Music, for example, should be cultivated from an early age, and it is difficult to learn after age. However, paintings belonging to spatial intelligence can be learned and developed regardless of age;
Fourth: Everyone should not only find their own smart combination, but also find the combination of learning styles. For example, people who are smart in language and writing can remember by reciting. But for a person with strong body movement intelligence but weak language intelligence, he may not be able to calm down and recite, but it is better to recite by singing.
Fifth, the evaluation of the theory of multiple intelligences is not to queue up children, nor is it just to discover little geniuses, but to discover each child's intellectual potential and characteristics, identify and cultivate their intelligence and interests different from others, help them realize the development with rich personality characteristics, and provide them with an effective way to establish their sense of self-worth.
Therefore, it is extremely wrong to use the same standard to evaluate human intelligence. A measure of IQ does not represent a child's development and intelligence in all aspects.
In fact, a child's IQ is not permanent. Recently, the British Daily Mail reported on June 65438+1October 19: "In 2004, researchers from University College London conducted an IQ test on some students aged between 12 and 16, and the test scores ranged from 77 to/kloc-0. Four years later, the scores of these students rose to 87 to 143, but the individual changes were different. Not only did the written test scores change significantly, but brain scans also showed that those students with improved scores had more gray matter in their brains (gray matter is a nerve tissue and an important part of the central nervous system). This test shows that those children who do not perform well in school in the early days may still become excellent in the future. " Professor Gardner also pointed out that children's intelligence combination can also be changed, and they should be good at discovering children's cleverness. Besides congenital genetic factors, acquired education is also very important.
Every child's intellectual development speed is different, and the intellectual structure is also different. If parents don't have a correct understanding of the intelligence test, I suggest not to check it, otherwise the side effects will be great.
Children with some high-risk factors affecting brain development should be monitored at an early stage, so as to find them early, intervene in time and promote their intellectual development. If your child doesn't have high-risk factors that affect his brain development, there is no need to have an intelligence check.
