Rich educational experience
Zhou Ji studied mechanical manufacturing in Tsinghua University Precision Instrument Department, then taught in Xinjiang Institute of Technology, and studied for a master's degree in mechanical manufacturing in Huazhong Institute of Technology. After that, he went to the State University of new york (Buffalo) for further study, and obtained master's and doctor's degrees in mechanical engineering.
Performance/outstanding achievements
Zhou Ji once taught at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (formerly Huazhong Institute of Technology) and was the dean of the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering. Later, he was promoted to vice president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 1997 as president, during which 1999 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Engineering. Later, he served as member of the Standing Committee of Hubei Provincial Committee, president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and director of Hubei Science and Technology Department. From 200 1 to 2002, he served as deputy secretary and mayor of Wuhan Municipal Committee.
Minister of Education
In 2002, Zhou Ji was appointed Vice Minister of Education and Deputy Secretary of the Party Group. In 2003, he became Minister of Education and Party Secretary. He is also a member of the 17th Central Committee and a deputy to the 9th National People's Congress.
