Why is Putian College called Royal Mazu College?
A special training class for Mazu cultural communication talents was established. Putian College is located in the southeast coast of Fujian, the hometown of Mazu, the "goddess of peace" at sea, and the famous hometown of overseas Chinese. It is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education in March 2002. Putian University has set up a "Mazu Culture Communication Talent Training Class" (referred to as "Mazu Class"), which recruits sophomores and attracts more than 40 students from many departments. Putian University should undertake the important task of inheriting Mazu culture and carrying forward Mazu spirit. First, the whole school worked hard to study Mazu culture, and established the first academic institution specializing in Mazu culture in colleges and universities across the country.
