Master of Laws (JM) is one of the professional master's degrees. Since 1996, China's pilot LLM has been set up in accordance with the Interim Measures for the Examination and Approval of Professional Degree Setting, which was deliberated and adopted at the 4th meeting of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee.
Master degree in law is a professional degree with a specific legal background, which mainly trains high-level legal professionals and management talents for departments and industries such as legislation, justice, lawyers, notarization, trial, procuratorial, supervision and economic management, finance, administrative law enforcement and supervision.
Master of Law and Master of Law are at the same level, with different training directions and different emphases. The training goal of LLM is teaching and learning oriented, and LLM is application and practice oriented.
Times need
With the acceleration of the process of national rule of law, comprehensively administering the country according to law has become an important cornerstone of national development and construction, and social departments such as politics and law urgently need a large number of high-level applied and compound legal talents. Master of Laws degree education came into being.
1996, the State Council Academic Degrees Committee Office approved eight universities including China Renmin University, Peking University, China University of Political Science and Law, university of international business and economics, Jilin University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law and Wuhan University to recruit the first batch of LLM graduates.
The second batch of five universities including Sun Yat-sen University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, northwest university of politics and law, Nanjing University and Xiamen University began to recruit LLM.
