1998 10 On the basis of distance higher correspondence education, China Renmin University established the online education college, which became the earliest online education college in China and the first online university in China that mainly adopted the computer internet teaching mode.

From June 5438 to 10, 2004, according to the development trend of adult higher education and online education in China, in order to improve the management system and integrate educational resources, the Adult Higher Education College of Renmin University of China merged with the Online Education College of Renmin University of China to form the "Continuing Education College of China".
