With the approval of the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipality, Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University started construction on 1985, and 1987 welcomed the first batch of freshmen. There are 9 colleges including electric power, chemistry and chemical engineering, science, humanities and social sciences, construction engineering and mechanics, life science and technology, foreign languages, environmental science and technology and pharmacy. Minhang Campus has nearly 15000 undergraduates and 1000 postgraduates.

Master Plan of Minhang Campus Phase II Construction

The second phase construction of Minhang Campus, which has already started, will add 2,800 mu of land to the north and east on the basis of the existing 2,200 mu of land, implementing one plan at a time and in batches during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, focusing on building the eastern region, upgrading the central region simultaneously and promoting the transformation of the western region.
