Lanzhou No.99 Middle School was founded in 1956, formerly known as Xigu Thermal Power Plant Children's Primary School, and later renamed Xigu Thermal Power Plant Middle School. From June 5438 to February 2006, it was renamed as No.2 Middle School of Zhuanglang Road, Xigu District, Lanzhou City. It is a nine-year compulsory school.
20 13 junior middle school of Lanzhou No.28 Middle School merged into Zhuanglang Road No.2 Middle School. In 20 14, Xigu District Education Bureau changed the school into an independent junior middle school and renamed it Lanzhou No.99 Middle School.
When the school was handed over to Xigu District Government in 2007, there were 37 faculty members. After the handover, since September 2007, the school and No.63 Middle School of Lanzhou University (Lanhua No.3 Middle School) have implemented an "integrated" school-running model, which has enabled the school to develop rapidly.
