Two manatees in Underwater Wan Li
The manatee, whose scientific name is dugong, is actually an ugly creature. Because when the mother manatee holds this baby, it moves like a person holding the baby. When someone sees it, he will say that he saw someone in the sea. After a long legend, it became a mermaid now. Dugong, commonly known as mermaid, is a precious animal in the world and is rarely seen by people.

Mainly distributed in the western Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean, they like the sea areas with good water quality and rich aquatic plants, and regularly float out of the sea for air exchange. Because female dugong occasionally has the habit of nursing her young in the water, dugong is often mistaken for a "mermaid". Since 4000 years ago, humans have been hunting dugong, eating meat to extract oil, making bones and making leather. So far, the number of dugong is extremely rare.

Manatees usually live in shallow seas and estuaries, and only a few species inhabit rivers, which can control algae flooding.
