Taiyuan Education Bureau is a component of Taiyuan Municipal People's Government, which is in charge of education and language work in the whole city. The Education Committee of Taiyuan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Education Bureau of Taiyuan are co-located.

The main responsibilities of Taiyuan Education Bureau:

1. Implement the Party's and the state's guidelines, policies, laws and regulations on education, study the city's education reform and development strategy according to the provincial and municipal work arrangements, formulate the city's education development plan and annual plan, and do a good job in organizing and coordinating the implementation; To study and formulate the development plan and annual plan of "revitalizing the city through science and education" in conjunction with relevant departments; To formulate local laws, regulations, guidelines, policies and implementation plans for educational reform and development in Taiyuan.

To manage the funds, state-owned assets and capital construction of municipal educational institutions; Participate in the formulation of policies and measures to raise education funds through multiple channels; Participate in the supervision of the use of education funds according to law, and check the income and expenditure of education funds in counties (cities, districts); Participate in the layout planning of all kinds of schools at all levels in the city, examine and approve the new construction, cancellation and adjustment of schools, and the transfer or change of land, school buildings and real estate; Manage and guide the city's school-run industrial work.

3. Comprehensive management of the city's preschool education, nine-year compulsory education, ordinary high school education, secondary vocational education, adult education and "literacy" work, municipal higher education and adult secondary education; Directly manage municipal schools and affiliated institutions; To guide and coordinate the relevant education work of various departments of the municipal government; According to the authorization to manage the city's social forces to run schools; Responsible for the guidance, inspection and evaluation of the county (city, district) education administrative departments and school work.

4. Guide and manage the moral education, sports health and art education, national defense education and school safety work of all kinds of schools in the city.

5. Be responsible for the work of faculty and staff in the city. Responsible for the construction and management of school teachers and managers; To formulate policies, rules and regulations on wages, benefits and personnel management in the education system in conjunction with relevant departments; Organize and implement the reform of the internal management system of the school; Overall planning and organization, guidance, inspection and evaluation of the training of school cadres and teachers at all levels; Responsible for the management and assessment of the positions of professional and technical personnel in schools at all levels in the city; Responsible for the organization, guidance, supervision and implementation of the certification and management of teachers' qualifications in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, secondary specialized schools, technical schools and vocational schools in the region; Responsible for the foreign affairs of the education system and the work of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
