This school has a long history. Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is located in the famous historical and cultural city of Hangzhou, covering an area of 2 100 mu. The school's predecessor, Silkworm Academy, was founded in 1897 by Qi Lin, the governor of Hangzhou, in order to save the country through industry and education. It is one of the earliest new educational institutions in China. 1908, due to its outstanding achievements in running schools, it was upgraded to "Advanced Sericulture School" with the royal approval of the Qing government. From the Revolution of 1911 to the eve of liberation, due to the turbulent situation, the school was renamed and relocated several times and continued to operate in the vicissitudes of life. After the founding of New China, the school forged ahead and wrote a new chapter in history. School 1959 began to recruit undergraduates, 1964 was named Zhejiang Silk Vocational and Technical College by the State Council, 1979 began to recruit master students, 1983 awarded master's degree. 1999, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Zhejiang Institute of Engineering. In 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. There are 2 national and local joint engineering laboratories, 3 national and local joint engineering research centers 1, 3 national international scientific and technological cooperation bases, 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education 1, 2 engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education 1, 3 key laboratories of the Ministry of Culture1,and 3 provincial collaborative innovation centers. 2 provincial key research bases of philosophy and social sciences, 5 provincial engineering laboratories, 2 provincial (technical) research centers, 2 provincial international scientific and technological cooperation bases, 1 provincial academician expert workstations, 1 new university think tank in Zhejiang Province, 1 key research base of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, 1 research base of modern revolutionary history and culture in Zhejiang Province. There are 3 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 national virtual simulation experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 national engineering practice education centers, and/kloc-0 national off-campus practice education base for college students. There are 4 national quality video open courses, 5 national quality resource sharing courses, 2 national quality online open courses 1, 2 national bilingual teaching demonstration courses, 2 national English teaching brand courses of the Ministry of Education, and 7 national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" textbooks. Won 3 second prizes of national teaching achievements.
The school has a strong faculty, with more than 2,000 faculty members, including more than 880 associate senior titles and more than 270 full senior titles. There are 2 innovation teams of the Ministry of Education, 7 provincial key scientific and technological innovation teams, 1 provincial key cultural innovation team/kloc-0, and 5 provincial university innovation teams. The school vigorously strengthens scientific and technological innovation. Completed a series of national science and technology plan projects and national, provincial and ministerial-level funded scientific research projects in many fields, and won 8 second prizes for national technological inventions, 7 second prizes for national scientific and technological progress, 3 rd prize for national scientific and technological progress 1, Luxun Literature 1 and 2 prizes for scientific and technological innovation in ho leung ho lee foundation. In recent five years, it has won more than 70 provincial and ministerial awards/kloc-0. The comprehensive index of scientific and technological work has always been in the forefront of Zhejiang universities.
Adhering to the principle of openness, the school has established cooperative relations with more than 100 educational and scientific research institutions in nearly 30 countries and regions, and established two Confucius Institutes with the University of Mauritius and the University of Suriname, which has promoted the rapid development of international education.
