I have maintained this view for a long time. Being a teacher and doing education is to pass on knowledge to students through processing.

However, as I grew older, my views on education and teachers gradually changed. The first reason for the change is that children's knowledge channels have suddenly increased. In the Internet age, the spread of knowledge has become more and more convenient, and it is no longer the era when you have to stand in the snow to learn knowledge. Children can easily learn knowledge from other places if they want to. If the threshold of knowledge learning is lowered, what is the significance of the role of teachers or educators? The panic about the identity of educators prompted me to start thinking about the significance of education again.

The second thing that prompted me to change is that I suddenly realized that knowledge is not the greatest meaning of education. The transmission of knowledge is important in the history of human development, but sometimes a piece of knowledge can't make a person have a happy life. Promoting people's growth and all-round development is sometimes much more meaningful than fighting for a city and a pool in the knowledge world.

The third reason for my change is that I realize that education doesn't just happen in the classroom. In the process of getting along with others, the shadow of education can be seen everywhere. The sage said that a threesome must have a teacher, an impermanent teacher, also called a threesome.

So, my feeling now is that education is like pushing hands in Tai Chi. We have a firm foothold in one field, and at a certain moment when the environment changes, we give a just right force to push the whole situation to change in a good direction. This statement seems a bit sampling. Specifically, education refers to being able to gain insight into the power of growth and the opportunity to receive education in the process of getting along with others, and giving help to growth at that time.

Simply put, we are the boosters of growth, not the leaders of growth. A good educator is a person who can grasp the growth opportunity and help the growth successfully. Our knowledge and our understanding of the world are limited, and blindly treating ourselves as exporters will limit each other's growth. It is better to regard each other as the main body of growth and become the driving force for his growth. A good gardener always prunes plants according to their growth, instead of cutting all plants into the same shape. Therefore, understanding people and understanding growth is the first priority for educators.

Today, I just noticed a passage by Itsumi Taro, a famous Japanese picture book writer. He said that he didn't create picture books from the perspective of education, he just wanted to make children happy, that's all. Regarding parents' education of their children, he said that many parents don't trust their children, but in fact, children are stronger than they think. Parents should believe in their children's strength, or they will easily accomplish nothing.

Itsumi Taro also pointed out that times are changing so fast that it is difficult for us as parents to keep up with the times. We don't know how to control the future. Instead of telling our children what to do, we should teach them how to fish, so that children can have survival skills and the ability to think independently. Nowadays, many children who have studied for many years but have no practical ability are the failure cases of the old educational concept.

Itsumi Taro's words are similar to what I said before. Only by trusting children, respecting children and helping them grow up, rather than replacing them, can such education cultivate future-oriented and independent children.

The point to be emphasized here is that paying attention to children's growth does not mean not paying attention to children's knowledge accumulation. The two should not be neglected. The key is to make children the main body of growth and learning.
