Nanjing Teachers College of Special Education, located in Nanjing, is the only independent institution of higher learning in China, which mainly trains special education teachers.
Nanjing Normal University of Special Education was founded in 1982, and its predecessor was the first normal school of special education in China founded by the Ministry of Education. The school began to train five-year junior college students from 1997, and was upgraded to an ordinary university in 2002.

The development of history
The predecessor of Nanjing Teachers College of Special Education is Nanjing Teachers College of Special Education, and 1982 is the first normal school of special education in New China founded by the Ministry of Education. At that time, the school system was four years, and secondary education was open to junior high school graduates all over the country.
65438-0997, the school was placed under the management of Jiangsu provincial government by the Ministry of Education. In the same year, the school began to train five-year junior college students.
In 2002, the school was upgraded to Nanjing Vocational and Technical College of Special Education to recruit three-year high school graduates.
In 2009, the school became a joint unit of China Disabled Persons' Federation and Jiangsu Provincial People's Government.
In 20 13, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school established "Nanjing Special Education Teachers College".
In 20 15, the school was officially upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate college and started to run undergraduate courses.
