National Chiayi University has a long history, and the process of its development is closely related to the economic, social and educational needs and changes in Taiwan Province Province in the past 80 years. 1 February, 9891day, which was formed by the merger of National Chiayi Teachers College and National Chiayi Institute of Technology. The birth of National Chiayi University has satisfied the long-cherished wish of local people to look forward to a university. It is also the first case and model of the successful integration of universities in Taiwan Province Province in recent decades, and it is the most comprehensive university with history and scale in Jia Yun.
(A) A brief history of the National Chiayi Teachers College
The former National Chiayi Teachers College was founded in 1946 with the name of "Taiwan Province Chiayi Teachers College", and the school site is now Linsen Campus (the former site of Linsen Primary School). The establishment of Harvest aims at cultivating excellent primary school teachers, meeting the needs of primary school teachers at that time and the needs of primary school teaching guidance in Jiayun area. 1in August, 955, it was changed to "Chiayi Teachers College of Taiwan Province Province", which is a five-year college and recruits junior (Chinese) middle school graduates. 1972, in order to meet the needs of the development of preschool education in China, a two-year preschool education normal department was added to train kindergarten teachers. On-the-job continuing education, 1959 set up a summer department and a night department in 60 years. 1976 Xiong Min Campus was established, and in July of the same year, it was upgraded to "Chiayi Teachers College of Taiwan Province Province" to recruit undergraduate students, and a further education department for in-service primary school and kindergarten teachers and education administrators was established. 1980 was placed under the central government and named as "National Chiayi Teachers College". 198 1 year, Minxiong campus opened, and the administrative center and most departments moved here. After the foundation was laid in the undergraduate department, the 1983 institute began to develop, and a few years later began to set up doctoral programs. Harvest's 43-year history has trained countless outstanding teachers in primary schools, kindergartens and nurseries, as well as school administration, educational administration and national educational research talents. At the same time, he has been responsible for the teaching guidance of primary schools and kindergartens in Jiayun area for a long time, which has made great contributions to guiding the improvement and development of primary education and preschool education in the area. The cultivation of excellent teachers and strong humanistic and artistic atmosphere have become the characteristics of Harvest.
(2) A brief history of National Chiayi Institute of Technology
The former National Chiayi Institute of Technology was founded in the Republic of China as "Public Chiayi Agricultural and Forestry School in Taiwan Province Province", aiming at cultivating agricultural and forestry talents in Taiwan Province Province. In April 10, it was renamed as Tainan National Chiayi Agriculture and Forestry School, in April10/34, it was renamed as Taiwan Province Chiayi Agricultural Vocational School, in July/40, it was renamed as Taiwan Province Chiayi Higher Agricultural Vocational School, and in March/54, it was upgraded to Taiwan Province Chiayi Agricultural College with a five-year schooling. In 1960, the night department was established for two years, and in 1964, the Japanese department was added for two years. /kloc-0 was placed under the central government in July, 1970, and the school was named "National Chiayi Agricultural College". 1July, 986, upgraded and reorganized as "National Chiayi Institute of Technology". At the same time, with the development of the school, the number of school sites has changed. The school was founded in Shanzaiding (now the former site of the National Chiayi Shang Gao). In 27 years, it moved to Xinmin Campus [note 1], and in 74 years, the administrative center moved to the current site of Lantan Campus. With a long history of 8 1 year, it has carried out academic and technical exchanges with the United States, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and other countries in combination with natural, scientific and industrial fields, and has become the cradle for the country to cultivate agricultural scientific and technological elites. At that time, the Jianong baseball team even spread its prestige in Koshien, which became popular in Japan and started the baseball atmosphere in Taiwan Province Province, and Chinese people still talk about it.
Second, a brief history of departments
The six colleges of National Chiayi University cover humanities, arts, education, agriculture, science and engineering, management, life sciences and other academic fields. This actually stems from the long-term expansion and development of the departments of Jiashi and Cargill University. Most departments can find their own source in the development of departments in the two universities. During the period of Jiashi Teachers College, the national school teachers' department was established in 55 years, renamed normal type in 66 academic year, and the two-year preschool education teachers' department was added in 72 years. After upgrading and restructuring into a normal college, four departments of primary education, Chinese education, social studies education and natural science education were initially established, and two-year preschool education was attached. 198 1 added departments of preschool education and special education, 1982 added departments of music education, and 1986 added departments of American labor education. In terms of research institutes, 1983 set up a master's class in the primary education research institute (later renamed as the national education research institute), and 1987 added a master's class in the family education research institute. 1954 When Cargill was upgraded to Agricultural College, six disciplines were established, including agronomy, horticulture, forestry, agricultural products processing, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine and agricultural engineering, which were added one after another. By the 82nd academic year, the five-year program had developed to 12 disciplines: agronomy, horticulture, forest resources management, forest products industry, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, food industry, agricultural mechanical engineering, agricultural civil engineering, agricultural economy, plant protection and aquaculture. In the eighty-eight academic year, there were departments of agronomy (branch), horticulture (branch), forestry (branch), wood (branch), animal husbandry (branch), veterinary, food (branch), agricultural machinery (branch), agricultural civil engineering (branch), agricultural management (branch) and plant protection (branch). With the long-term development of colleges and departments, Jiashi has gradually expanded its branches and leaves in the fields of education, humanities, art, mathematics and physics, and Cargill has laid a foundation in the fields of agriculture, science and engineering and life sciences. It is expected that Jiashi will make great academic achievements.
After the merger of universities in 1989, there are six colleges, namely, College of Humanities and Arts, College of Education, College of Management, College of Agriculture, College of Technology and College of Life Sciences, with 28 departments and 14 research institutes. The College of Education consists of five departments: Education Department, Preschool Education Department, Special Education Department, Counseling Department and Physical Education Department. National Education Research Institute (master class, doctoral class), Family Education Research Institute (master class), Special Education Research Institute (master class), Preschool Education Research Institute (master class), Education Science and Technology Research Institute (master class); The College of Humanities and Arts 1 has five departments: China Literature Department, Foreign Languages Department, History and Geography Department, Music Department, Fine Arts Department and school of visual arts (master's degree); 3 departments 1 School of Management: Department of Enterprise Management, Department of Applied Economics, Department of Biological Enterprise Management, School of Management (master's degree); There are 6 departments and 2 agricultural colleges: agronomy department, horticulture department, forestry department, forest products science department, animal products department, veterinary department, agronomy research institute (master's degree) and forestry research institute (master's degree); There are 5 departments and 3 polytechnics: Applied Chemistry Department, Applied Physics Department, Applied Mathematics Department, Biomechanical Engineering Department, Civil and Hydraulic Engineering Department, Mathematics Education College (master's degree), Science Education College (master's degree) and Information Engineering College (master's degree); There are four departments and two colleges in life science: food science department, aquatic biology department, biological resources department, molecular and biochemical department, food science research institute (master's program) and biotechnology research institute (master's program).
In addition, the Extension Department of National Chiayi University provides further education for Jiayu Yunnan employees, making full use of educational resources, serving and giving back to the community. In this regard, the predecessors of our school, Harvest and Cargill, have achieved fruitful results, followed by Jiada, which has expanded its scale. 1In the early 1960s, two departments of food processing and veterinary medicine were set up in the two-year evening department of Chiayi Agricultural College, and then increased year by year. Later, it developed into twelve departments, including agronomy, horticulture, forest resources management, forest products industry, veterinary medicine, food industry, agricultural machinery engineering, agricultural civil engineering, agricultural economy, agricultural management, plant protection and aquaculture. 1986, Jianong was upgraded to Chiayi Institute of Technology, and the night department was renamed the higher department. However, when the former Harvest Normal University set up the summer department in 1959, it also set up a two-year national school teachers' department, a general teachers' department in 196 1 year, a two-year national school teachers' department using air for teaching in 1962, and a preschool teachers' further education department in 1967. In addition, in 1960, the Night Department set up a two-year national school teachers' department, in 1969, it added a two-year preschool education teachers' department, with an advanced kindergarten teacher class, and in 1972, it held an advanced kindergarten teacher class. The Department of Continuing Education of Chiayi Teachers College offers courses such as in-service credit classes of National Education Research Institute, bachelor classes of preschool education, bachelor classes of primary education, pedagogy classes of primary school teachers and pedagogy classes of special education teachers. The education of Qianjia Teacher and Jiaji Technology has trained countless teachers and educational administrators in primary schools and kindergartens, as well as countless talents in agriculture, forestry and fisheries. On this basis, Jiada will continue to work hard.
Third, the current situation of departments
Conforming to the national demand and academic trend, inheriting the characteristics and academic resources of Chiayi Teachers College and Chiayi Institute of Technology, the development of national Chiayi University attaches importance to humanities and technology, with excellent teachers, strong faculty and vigorous research atmosphere, which is an important feature of our school. Our school attaches great importance to academic exchanges and cooperation. In order to broaden the horizons of teachers and students, we have carried out information exchange and academic research cooperation with domestic universities for many years. Since 1 February, 19891,we have established sister schools with more than 20 foreign schools, including 8 in Asia: Daiyo University, Shang Yue Education University in Japan, Hankyung University in Korea, Savia University in the Philippines, Vietnam Agriculture and Forestry University, Ho Chi Minh Normal University in Vietnam, Bogor University in Indonesia and so on. Six in America: university of idaho, university of northern colorado, University of Oregon, Murray University, Nova Scotia Agricultural College and Asunció n National University of Paraguay; Four in Europe: Cardiff University in the UK, European Business School in France, Higher Forestry Institute in Nantes, France, and University of Applied Sciences in Bedhorn, Germany; 4 universities in Oceania: Lincoln University in New Zealand, Victoria University in New Zealand, Southern Cross University in Australia and university of new england in Australia. In recent years, inter-school delegations have included the United States, Japan, Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Chinese mainland, Viet Nam, Saint Lucia, Africa, France, Germany and other countries. In addition to sending personnel to exchange visits, they also conducted various academic and cultural exchanges to achieve the purpose of academic research and information circulation.
The development of our school depends on the leadership of successive principals and the efforts of all teachers and students. As for the former Chiayi Institute of Technology, since the recovery of Taiwan, the successive presidents of Jianong and Cargill were Dr. Liu Chuanlai, Mr. Cai Pengfei, Mr. Liao, Mr. Deng, Dr. Yu Chuantao, Dr. Yu Yuxian, Dr. Lin Zhongmao, Dr. Hu Maolin and Dr. Qiu Yiyuan (acting); Jiashi passed through nine principals, namely Xiong, Geng Xiangzeng, Su Huikeng, Huang, Dr. (Dai), Dr. Jianxing Li (concurrently) and Dr. Huang Fushun. After the establishment of Chiayi University, Dr. Yang Guoci, Minister of State Affairs of the Ministry of Education, was appointed as the first president. With his rich academic experience and macro higher education concept, President Yang led all the teachers and students in the school to take "integration, pluralism, foresight and big pattern" as the main axis and "glory, fame and internationalization" as the development mission. 1February 6, 994, President Li Mingren took over as the third president. Taking "honesty, pragmatism, innovation and service" as the main axis of running a school, and taking the development goal of moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic education as the guide, we will continue to work hard towards the school vision, improve the quality of teaching, scientific research and promotion services, and "innovate" and "excel" in various fields.
