Hunan Provincial Education Department is located in the second section of the East Second Ring Road in Changsha City, Hunan Province, and is mainly responsible for the province's education, including compulsory education, adult education and higher education.

The main responsibilities of Hunan Provincial Department of Education:

(a) to implement the laws and regulations of the state on education, draft local education regulations, formulate strategies, principles, policies and plans for education reform and development in the province, and organize their implementation.

(two) responsible for the overall planning and coordinated management of all levels of education, in conjunction with the relevant departments to develop the standards for the establishment of all levels of schools, to guide the education and teaching reform of all levels of schools, and to be responsible for the statistics, analysis and release of basic education information.

(three) responsible for promoting the balanced development of compulsory education and promoting educational equity, and responsible for the macro guidance and coordination of compulsory education; Guide general high school education, preschool education and special education. Formulate basic requirements and teaching documents for basic education, organize the examination and approval of local textbooks for basic education and entrust national textbooks, and fully implement quality education.

(four) to guide the development and reform of employment-oriented vocational education, formulate teaching guidance documents and teaching evaluation standards, and guide the construction of teaching materials and vocational guidance for secondary vocational education.

(5) Coordinate and guide the work of general higher education, adult higher education, self-study examination of higher education and continuing education, study and put forward various standards for running higher education, basic teaching documents and evaluation standards and organize their implementation, and undertake the examination and approval of the establishment, adjustment and renaming of ordinary higher education institutions in accordance with relevant regulations.

(six) the overall management of the department's education funds; Participate in the formulation of the province's education funds, education funding, education infrastructure investment policies; Responsible for statistics and monitoring the investment and use of education funds in the province; According to the relevant provisions of the management of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and foreign governments and organizations to our province's education assistance and education loans; To guide and manage the financial assistance for students with financial difficulties in the province; Guide and organize the implementation of the internal audit of the education system.

(seven) to coordinate and guide the education of ethnic minorities, and coordinate the educational assistance to ethnic minorities and ethnic minority areas and poverty-stricken areas.

(eight) to guide the ideological and political work, moral education, sports health art education and national defense education in schools of all levels and types, to guide the party building, propaganda, United front and group work in colleges and universities, and to guide and coordinate the stability of the education system.

(nine) to undertake other tasks assigned by the provincial party committee and the provincial people's government.
