How has the structure of American higher education been improved?
The rise of junior college marks the further improvement of American higher education structure. In order to change the low quality of education in some colleges in the American higher education system and meet people's diversified higher education needs, Haber (1892), president of the University of Chicago, proposed for the first time to divide the four academic years of the university into two, with the first two years as "junior colleges" and the last two years as "advanced colleges". 190 1 year, Joliet Junior College of Illinois was established. Since then, junior colleges have been widely opened in the United States. 1920 "American Association of Colleges and Universities" was established. In the process of development, the college has gradually determined the educational functions of preparing for further studies, carrying out vocational education, providing general education and serving the society. College has made rapid development with its flexible curriculum and diversified educational functions. By 1950, there were 634 colleges and universities with 562,000 students in the United States.
