School of Continuing Education of Yanbian University was established on July 30th, 20 10. Its predecessor was the correspondence education department of Yanbian University, 1956, which was established in June with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and later changed to the correspondence department.
Yanbian University is one of the earliest universities in China to establish correspondence education. The main task is to train in-service teachers and outstanding cadres of some state organs in Korean middle schools in three northeastern provinces and Inner Mongolia to reach the level of normal universities.
1In April, 1996, with the approval of the State Education Commission, five universities including Yanbian University, Yanbian Medical College, Yanbian Agricultural College, Yanbian Normal College and Yanbian Branch of Jilin University of the Arts merged to form a new Yanbian University. In May, 2000, the School of Adult Education of Yanbian University unified the management of adult correspondence education and second academic education.
College enrollment comes from nine provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, including three northeastern provinces. There are more than 30 thousand correspondence students in adult college entrance examination, and hundreds of students graduate from short-term non-academic continuing education and training every year.
There are 24 full-time administrators in the college, including 3 professors, 4 associate professors, 7 lecturers 17 and more than 0 part-time professional teachers 100. Over the past 60 years, the College has trained more than 70,000 senior professionals of all ethnic groups with cross-cultural qualities and abilities, making positive and important contributions to regional economic construction and social development.
