The obese and melancholy Javier (carlos areces) was born in a clown family in Spain. His father died in the civil war. Before he died, he told himself that his son, who had suffered too much, wanted to be a sad clown. Times have changed. As an adult, Javier applied for a job and went to a circus. He meets the clown Sage (Antonio de la Torre) and the charming acrobatic actress Natalia (Carolina bon).
