12 key areas of national security
Legal analysis: political security, homeland security, military security, economic security, cultural security, social security, scientific and technological security, information security, ecological security, resource security, nuclear security and biological security.

Legal basis: National Security Law of People's Republic of China (PRC).

Article 15 State organs, social organizations and other organizations shall educate their own personnel on safeguarding national security, and mobilize and organize their own personnel to prevent and stop acts endangering national security.

Article 16 Citizens and organizations shall provide convenience or other assistance for national security work.

Article 17 A citizen who discovers an act endangering national security shall report to the state security organ or the public security organ directly or through an organization in a timely manner.

Article 18 When the state security organs investigate and understand the situation endangering state security and collect relevant evidence, citizens and relevant organizations shall truthfully provide it and shall not refuse it.

Article 19 All citizens and organizations should keep the state secrets they know in the work of state security.

Article 20 No individual or organization may illegally hold documents, materials and other articles that are state secrets.

Article 21 No individual or organization may illegally possess or use special spy equipment such as eavesdropping and stealing photos.

Twenty-second any citizen or organization has the right to report and accuse the state security organ at a higher level or the relevant departments of the state security organ and their staff of exceeding their functions and powers, abusing their powers and other illegal acts.

The state security organ at a higher level or the relevant department shall promptly ascertain the facts and be responsible for handling them. No one may suppress or retaliate against citizens and organizations that assist the work of state security organs or report or accuse them according to law.
