The purpose of college basketball league sponsored by China Basketball Association is to "develop college basketball and cultivate basketball talents". The model is based on NCAA University Basketball League. Important competitions such as CCTV5 are broadcast live every year. 1996 alliance began to brew, and 1997 alliance charter was established. 1998 officially implemented, with men's and women's groups.
It is the first special sports league for college students in the history of sports in China.
