1-2 years old, the three main aspects of children's development are
Walking (action, not hugging)
Explore (the world, not books)
Language (mother tongue, not second language)
Let's talk about walking first.
This stage is particularly interesting. The child walks like a tumbler. You are worried that he will stagger and fall, but people can just cross a bumpy road. If you turn left and right, you won't fall. Even if you fall occasionally, you will get up. Nothing, unless it hurts badly. Howl twice. However, it is the parents who are worried and tired and always want to hold him in their arms or lead him, which saves trouble.
What should parents do?
Wherever he goes, his parents should follow and protect him and let him explore to his heart's content. Don't let his experience be limited for his own comfort, so the child's learning ability will be hindered. At this stage, children are experiencing new skills, going to new places, cultivating their independence and enjoying their achievements. Anyone will be happy to learn new abilities, and so will adults.
Montessori believes that a one-and-a-half-year-old child can walk several miles without feeling tired, but children don't walk with goals in mind like adults. Children learn to walk in order to develop their own abilities and establish their own existence. He walked slowly, without rhythm and goal, but the surrounding scenery attracted him and encouraged him to move on. If adults want to help children, they must give up their own pace and goals, as Montessori quoted on page 33.
This is the critical period of the leg. A child senses the world with his legs, where he wants to go, and what kind of terrain. This is the perception of having legs. Only children who have experienced it will know.
Three things parents need to know,
First, no matter how tired you are, don't pick up TA when your baby is exploring, especially when he strongly demands to walk, or spank because of his crying.
Secondly, adults don't know what to do, so they follow their children to ensure safety. This is called helping children grow up.
The third most undesirable thing is to buy noisy shoes for children, because this will not only affect his hearing, but also make children fidgety and unwilling to walk, so that parents can hug them.
When a child comes into this world, satiated with food and enough love, the only thing he has to do is to develop himself. Therefore, if children can develop, they will be in a particularly good mood and healthy, but if they can't develop well, or develop badly, they will be furious, grumpy and even insensitive. If there is still anger, it shows that he still has the strength to strive for development, but if he turns a blind eye and looks good, it shows that the child has given up development and even has no mood in the future. Therefore, children should develop themselves according to their own internal laws, and parents should also create learning conditions for their children, so that they can be healthy and willing to develop themselves without interfering with them.
Let's talk about exploring, exercising the brain and developing mental models.
1~ Where does the child's interest in exploration begin? They are more interested in the things around them than people, so children develop themselves by exploring the surrounding environment. Nine months later, they began to explore whether things can rotate and roll, confusing neat things and making them make a sound. At the age of one and a half to two, they began to explore the relationship between objects, such as which can be stacked together and which can be packed inside. What can be arranged is about the spatial relationship, quality and causality of objects, so when children are exploring these substances all over the body, the brain is collecting information about things, the sensory organs are highly integrated, the brain begins to work very normally, and the limbs and the brain have a very harmonious cooperation. In this process, the child's senses will be stimulated. After the senses are stimulated, the dendrites of the brain begin to connect and become environmental characteristics.
The richer the environment, the richer the child's brain.
Therefore, everyone's environment is different, and everyone's internal neuron model is different. Therefore, if the environmental factors are rich, the psychological structure will be rich, and if the environmental factors are single, the psychological structure will be single. There is no way for two people with different mental structures to communicate together, so we should create a rich environment for children to explore.
Last but not least, language,
Children are developing their language while exploring the world, so children aged 0-2 are exposed to the language environment, so their language and emotions are integrated and they learn from the life situation. Don't lead your child's interest to reading too early at this time. Because there are pictures on the books, these just give children a two-dimensional space, flat, invisible, second-hand information and second-hand raw materials.
Children lack the support of real life, so when making expressions, there will be too little content. Reading is a part of life and an indispensable part, but it should be distributed according to the age characteristics and mental model of children, and the proportion should be different.
Before the age of two, children need to acquire their mother tongue, which is heard from their mother's womb. Mother tongue helps children to form their own spiritual connotation, and mother tongue is also used to express themselves and communicate with people around them, so don't let children contact too many languages, which will cause confusion.
