What courses are there in Chinese studies at the Hong Kong University of Education?
The course of Chinese Language Studies in Hong Kong University of Education aims to train students to become Chinese talents with good development in personal character, academic exploration and social responsibility. Graduates of this course will have a global perspective, know how to think critically about different situations in reality, make reasonable judgments, and exert empathy to understand the differences arising from different cultures. They are creative, can flexibly use their knowledge and skills, solve difficulties in different environments, master languages and make good use of various media to communicate and interact with different social groups.

Chinese major courses plan undergraduate academic study according to three categories: linguistics, literature, culture and communication, and have the following characteristics:

Based on the Hong Kong society and the tradition of academic research in China, master the knowledge of language and literature, and cultivate the ability of bilingual research and learning.

In order to broaden the international horizon, the "Common Compulsory Course" taught in English and the "Elective Course of Comparative Studies in China" were specially set up to cultivate students' understanding and tolerance towards multiculturalism.

We offer different English minor and Chinese elective, as well as non-language minor to meet students' different interests.

Students majoring in Chinese language are required to learn Putonghua, so as to strengthen their phonetic ability and expressive ability in different styles.
