Fudan University, referred to as "Fudan University" for short, is located in Shanghai, China, directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and is a vice-ministerial system directly under the central government. Fudan University was founded in 1905 and formerly known as Fudan College. It is the first institution of higher learning independently established by the people of China. Its founder was Ma, a famous educator in modern China, and the first chairman was Sun Yat-sen, the father of the country. The name of "Fudan" is selected from the famous sentence "The sun and the moon compete for glory, Fudan is thriving" in the Biography of Yu Xia, aiming at self-improvement and pinning the hope of China intellectuals to run schools and save the country at that time. 19 17 Fudan college was renamed as private Fudan university; 1937 After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the school moved to Beibei, Chongqing, and 194 1 was changed to "national"; 1946 moved back to the original site of Jiangwan, Shanghai; After the national colleges and universities were adjusted from 65438 to 0952, Fudan University became a comprehensive university focusing on arts and sciences. 1959 became a national key university.
