When Mr. Xu Beihong first went to study in France, a foreign classmate looked down on China. Mr. Xu Beihong confidently said to the students, "Since you look down on my country, that's fine. In exchange for "New Year pictures"

Xu Beihong worshipped Ren Bonian all his life and claimed to be Ren Bonian's "junior", because the day Ren Bonian died was the day Xu Beihong was born. Unexpectedly, Ren Bonian died at the age of 56, and Xu Beihong only lived at the age of 58.

Xu Beihong pays attention to collecting Ren Bonian's works, but because Xu Beihong doesn't want to sell his own paintings, he has to exchange them with others when he sees Ren Bonian's paintings. At first, Xu painted three or four paintings, and then gradually decreased. In the1940s, one painting by Xu could be replaced by another.

Dead branches and rotten wood

1September, 929, Xu Beihong was introduced by Cai Yuanpei and became the president of Peking University Art Institute. Xu Beihong turned to hire Qi Baishi as a professor. At that time, the painting world in Beiping was lifeless, and the conservative forces were quite stubborn. Qi Baishi, a carpenter, boldly innovated and changed the painting method. Unfortunately, he didn't get much response, and the painting circles in Beiping sneered at him.
