The process in which human beings deliberately use one thing to represent another is called symbolization. Symbols, awards, police medals and so on are all symbolic processes.
Most of the things we touch and think about are also symbolic.
We wear expensive clothes, symbolizing wealth, and when we treat guests, we put expensive dishes, symbolizing respect. We choose our own hair style, and even argue with our parents, which has nothing to do with the hair style itself, but with the symbolic meaning given by people.
Although the symbolization process makes people's lives complicated, some behaviors also become ridiculous. But the process of symbolization also produces language.
Language enables all kinds of human achievements to be realized. You can't abandon the car and take the tram just because there are more accidents in the car than in the tram. Similarly, we can't give up symbolization because of its ridiculous behavior.
An ideal solution is to start to understand this process, so that we can no longer be its slaves, at least to some extent, become its masters.
