1949 On a chilly spring morning, three Korean youths got on the train at Shangzhi Station in Heilongjiang and embarked on the road to study. One of them was Zheng Julong, who was less than 18 years old and was a junior high school student. When he heard that Yanbian University had just been established, he couldn't wait to get to it. And issued an oath: "If you fail to learn, you will never return home."
In order to enter the university, Zheng Julong found Zhu Dehai, then secretary of the CPC Yanbian District Committee. Looking at this young man who hasn't graduated from junior high school, he is very curious. Zhu Dehai suggested accepting him, but at the same time put forward a condition: drop out of school if you can't keep up with your studies.
Zheng Zhuilong not only didn't drop out of school, but also became the first graduate of Yanbian University with excellent results, stayed there to teach and joined China. From 65438 to 0955, he realized his dream of studying in the former Soviet Union and set foot on the train to Moscow. There, he not only received a doctorate in literature from Moscow University, but also married a beautiful talented woman from the south of the Yangtze River, Wang Yuxi. When he came back from school, he gave up the opportunity to stay in China Academy of Social Sciences and returned to Yanbian University with his beloved wife. In his memoir Fifty Years of Wind and Rain, he wrote: "Although Yanbian University is a very humble and ill-equipped school thousands of miles away from the capital Beijing, it is the only Korean university in China after all! How can I bear to stay away from him? I believe my wife will not object to my choice. "
From then on, he and his wife lived in a simple bungalow, ate indigestible meal replacement, and devoted all their light and heat to the education of Yanbian University. The storm of the "Cultural Revolution" made them the object of criticism. Their ambition remains unshakable and their original intention remains unchanged. They even made an amazing move ―― organizing the compilation of textbooks. 1978, a four-volume 2 million-word History of Foreign Literature written by him and written by 80 scholars came out. Chinese majors in universities all over the country have their own textbooks, which also laid the academic position of Yanbian University in the country.
1980 July 15, Zheng Julong was officially appointed as the vice president of Yanbian University. This year, he signed an academic exchange agreement with Stockholm University, Sweden, together with the leaders of Peking University and Chinese Academy of Sciences, which made Yanbian University step onto the international stage.
From 65438 to 0986, through his efforts, Yanbian University successfully applied for the right to grant doctoral programs and established a doctoral program in Korean language and literature, which pointed out the direction for the new development of Yanbian University.
From 65438 to 0989, he personally founded a scientific research institution specializing in North Korea and South Korea-North Korea Research Center of Yanbian University. Relying on the unique language and geographical advantages, we will fully implement tasks such as scientific research, personnel training, academic exchanges, information construction and consulting services, so that the research center in the field of North Korea and South Korea will reach the national leading level and become the "only" high-level research institution in the country. The center was located in 2000.
From 65438 to 0997, he established Zheng Julong Education Foundation with the prize money from academic research to help students with excellent academic performance and poor families. Now it has developed into Zheng Julong Scholarship of Yanbian University Education Foundation. In this commemorative activity, some students received grants, and some even donated money to the foundation.
1May, 999, Zheng Zhuilong was diagnosed with colon cancer. In the years of struggling with the disease, he finished the creation of anecdotes about writers, leaving valuable information for the study of Korean literary history. Unfortunately, the sequel to his memoir Fifty Years of Storm, My Wife and I was not finished, but was later finished by his wife.

Zheng Julong's children wrote a letter to commemorate the event, saying: "No matter as a writer, educator or social activist, he is permeated with the spirit of seeking truth, integrity, erudition and preciseness, full of broad feelings of loving his post and being a ladder, and has contributed his life's energy to North Korea's education. It can be said that he did his best until he died."
During the commemorative activities, people came to the Zheng Zhuilong Literature Monument on the back hill of Yanbian University, where pines and cypresses hung low and cypresses stood tall. People stared at the inscription for a long time and refused to leave: "At that time, I didn't have the courage to refuse the call of my compatriots to pursue my so-called future. At that time, I didn't have the courage, and now I still don't have ... "
