How to tell whether a book is genuine or not?
I have answered one like this before. ..

Mainly reading the quality of paper, as well as the typesetting and clarity of words.

Ordinary books are easy to read.

Just open a page and touch the paper. Is it rough? And thin and fake books all have this feature!

Let me be more specific.

1. The printing quality of pirated books will be worse than the genuine ones. The printing machine for pirated books is a second-hand printing machine. Ink will not be evenly applied, and there will be different shades and uneven color transition. This situation is easier to see in black and white pictures, and the edges of words are rough and there will be small protrusions.

2. There is no obvious difference between the bold and ordinary fonts of pirated books, and the fonts are unclear and too thick. The reason for this is the problem of font selection. Most of the fonts used by regular publishing houses will be books with the words Song Ti and Bamboo Slips. This font is clear and thin. If this font is bold, the difference between the original font thickness and the original font thickness is very obvious, which is roughly equal to a font being bold twice. However, the pirated merchants use Song style, which will be very clear on the computer, but if they print in ink, the font will be too thick to be clear and bold is not obvious.

3. The subtle color difference of paper. Many people think that the whiter the paper, the better, but it is not absolute in essence. Because of the water absorption and moisture resistance of paper, many good papers are yellow, just like the cannon paper (newsprint) of Xinmin Evening News, which is a better printing paper. The same edition of the same book will be printed with the same batch of paper, and the degree of yellowing resistance will be different because of the different time after the paper is manufactured, so it is difficult for pirates to copy the paper used in genuine books. Their paper is generally white, but it is rough and turns yellow more easily than similar paper.

4. Anti-counterfeiting marks and uneven and unclear paper. In order to prevent counterfeiting, many genuine books will add some anti-counterfeiting marks or raise or recess some words on the hard cover paper. However, because pirates imitate such anti-counterfeiting marks, their anti-counterfeiting marks will be vague, and the bulges or depressions will not be obvious, especially the edges and corners are not clear.

Through the above four points, I believe that most readers can distinguish pirated books from genuine books. Maybe it's okay to read pirated books occasionally, but if you use pirated books in education, it's really misleading children.
