Modern distance education project in rural primary and secondary schools refers to a teaching method pilot project in 2003 to promote the sharing of high-quality educational resources between urban and rural areas and improve the quality and efficiency of rural education. It uses information technology as a means to transmit high-quality educational resources to rural areas through three modes: teaching CD playback point, satellite teaching viewing point and computer classroom. It will take about four years to equip 1 1000 teaching points in rural primary schools with teaching CD playing equipment and complete sets of teaching CDs, initially build satellite teaching viewing points in 384,000 rural primary schools, and basically build computer classrooms in 37,500 rural junior high schools. The project investment is arranged by the provincial government as a whole, and the state gives appropriate subsidies according to the economic and social development of different regions.
