The Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) is the the State Council department in charge of education and language work in the State Council, People's Republic of China (PRC). As of July 20 17, the Ministry of Education has 19 internal departments, among which "Secretariat of China National Committee for UNESCO" is one of them. In addition, the Ministry of Education directly manages 15 educational social groups and organizations.
Main responsibilities:
First, study and formulate educational principles and policies; Draw up a draft education law.
Two, study and put forward the education reform and development strategy and national education development plan; To formulate policies for educational system reform, as well as the focus, structure and speed of educational development, and guide and coordinate their implementation.
Three, the overall management of the Department of education funds; Participate in the formulation of principles and policies for raising education funds, education appropriations and education infrastructure investment; Supervise the collection and use of national education funds; To manage foreign educational aid and loans to China in accordance with relevant regulations.
Four, study and put forward the establishment standards, basic teaching requirements and basic teaching documents of various schools in primary and secondary schools; Organizing the examination and approval of textbooks compiled by primary and secondary schools; To guide the education and teaching reform of secondary and below secondary education; Organize the supervision and evaluation of popularizing nine-year compulsory education and eliminating illiteracy among young people.
Five, overall management of general higher education, postgraduate education and higher vocational education, adult higher education, higher education organized by social forces, adult higher education self-study examination and continuing education. To study and put forward the establishment standards of institutions of higher learning, and examine the establishment, renaming, cancellation and adjustment of institutions of higher learning; Formulate the catalogue of disciplines and specialties and basic teaching documents to guide the reform of higher education and teaching and the evaluation of higher education; Responsible for the implementation and coordination of "2 1 1 project".
