Yuelu District, which belongs to Changsha City, Hunan Province, is located on the west bank of Xiangjiang River, facing Kaifu District and Tianxin District of Changsha City across Xiangjiang River in the east, Jiuhua Township and Guitou Town of Xiangtan County in the south, Daolin Town, Huaminglou Town and Xia Duo Town of Ningxiang County in the west, and Bairuopu Town, Huangjin Town and Xingcheng Town of Wangcheng District in the north.

It governs 15 streets, 2 towns, 2 scenic spots management offices and 1 high-tech industrial development zones, with a total area of 552 square kilometers.

Formerly known as the West District of Changsha City, it has been established as an independent regional local administrative agency since 1934 (23 years of the Republic of China); 1956, the fishery area was cancelled and merged into the western area, 1975, the original Yuelu area was merged into the western area, and the area under its jurisdiction was expanded; 1996 adjust the administrative divisions of municipal districts, cancel the western district and establish a new Yuelu District; 20 12 the establishment of Pingtang street in Pingtang town was abolished, including the establishment of Hanpu street in Puzhen town.
