The so-called statistical index system of education monitoring and evaluation refers to an evaluation system established to give full play to the important role of education statistics in education management, scientific decision-making and social services, and is used to guide educational administrative departments at all levels and schools to scientifically carry out monitoring and evaluation of education development.

The revised index system is divided into five categories: comprehensive education level, people's school education, school conditions, education funds and scientific research, with a total of 120. Compared with the index system before revision, 36 original indexes were retained, 50 original indexes were revised and integrated, and 34 new indexes were added.
In the revised index system, item 18 is commonly used by international organizations, and item 18 draws lessons from the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development education monitoring and evaluation index, and makes appropriate adjustments in combination with China's education development. The revised index system is more scientific and targeted, and can better monitor and evaluate the development of education at all levels.
