Starting from 1985, the College of Continuing Education began to recruit correspondence and evening college students for adult higher education, and started to hold off-the-job classes for adult academic education on 1993. In 2003, it recruited students who were promoted to junior college, and since 2005, it has trained more than 20,000 professionals of all levels and types for the country. At the same time, more than 300 training courses on petroleum engineering, drilling engineering, oil and gas field development and protection, petroleum instruments, computer technology and application, enterprise management, ISO 100 15 quality management and foreign languages have been held for petroleum enterprises and institutions, with nearly 20,000 trainees. The vast number of graduates and trainees have achieved excellent results in their respective posts, and a considerable number of graduates have become business backbones or leading cadres of their units, making due contributions to the modernization of the country and the development of the oil and gas industry.

In the rapid development of the College of Continuing Education, a scientific and complete management system of teaching, student status, student management, enrollment and professional training has been gradually formed, which has created a responsible continuing education management team and ensured the teaching quality of adult higher education from hardware and software. The College of Continuing Education actively cooperates with oilfields in the central and western regions in adult higher education, with the aim of serving oilfields and students and paying close attention to teaching quality. The reputation of running a school in the central and western regions of China is constantly improving, the number of partners is increasing and the teaching scale is expanding.
