Reading Pinyin is an important way to memorize Pinyin sounds and get familiar with spelling rules. However, it is not ideal for children to read pinyin over and over again. In teaching, I often find that some students have read the pinyin in the text five or six times or even a dozen times, but still can't remember the pronunciation, because when reading pinyin, students just repeat it mechanically, without internalizing the pronunciation of pinyin and making it their own memory.
