Zhanjiang Institute of Education was founded in March 1980, and was named Zhanjiang Institute of Education in Guangdong Province with the consent of Guangdong Provincial People's Government in April/983. College is a municipal normal college, which undertakes the task of training and bringing up qualified junior high school teachers, principals and educational administrative cadres. Since 2002, Zhanjiang Normal University has been recruiting full-time undergraduates, correspondence undergraduates and online distance education undergraduates. In 2002, it was identified as the continuing education base for primary and secondary school teachers in Guangdong Province. In April, 2004, it was identified as the "research base (school)" of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" key project of national education science "Research on the professional curriculum reform of college teachers under the background of new basic education curriculum", and was known as the cradle of basic education teachers on red soil.
