Dezhou, called Ande in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province. Located in the alluvial plain in the northwest of Shandong Province, downstream of the Yellow River, it is the northwest gate of Shandong Province, bordering Cangzhou City, Hebei Province in the north, Jinan City and Liaocheng City in the south, Hengshui City, Hebei Province in the west and Binzhou City in the east.

Dezhou is the alluvial plain of the Yellow River. In history, there have been two great migrations of the Yellow River, with thousands of crevasses, which created a terrain with high southwest and low northeast. The basic climate is characterized by the obvious influence of monsoon, distinct four seasons and obvious boundaries between cold, heat, dryness and wetness.

Dezhou is China Sun City, China Functional Sugar City, China Excellent Tourism City and National Transportation Hub City, which is located at the intersection of Bohai Economic Circle, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Economic Circle, Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone and Yellow River Delta Efficient Ecological Economic Zone.

Dezhou paji, golden jujube, Baodian donkey meat, Dezhou black pottery and other local specialties are well-known at home and abroad. Among them, Dezhou braised chicken, Baodian donkey meat and Leling golden jujube are known as the three treasures of Dezhou.

On September 20 16, Dezhou was selected as one of the "Top National People's Livelihood Development 100". Dezhou is listed as the first batch of national comprehensive pilot areas for new urbanization.
