The Eastern Han Dynasty took sex education as a compulsory course in aristocratic children's schools, which showed that people's sexual concepts were quite open at that time and attached great importance to research issues. Of course, from today's point of view, sex education cannot be passed down from generation to generation, but it may not.
So in ancient China, did the general public have sex education? Of course there is. However, it is not so systematic and comprehensive. Instead, we use "intuitive teaching AIDS" to carry out "suggestive guidance" education. "Dowry painting" and "wardrobe bottom" are two main ones.
"Dowry Painting" is actually a sexual painting of about 8 to 12, with different sexual intercourse methods. Due to the large social demand, block printing is often used, which has a strong local flavor and folk color.
Before a daughter gets married, parents often buy one or two rolls of "dowry paintings", put them in the dowry and take them to her husband's family. On their wedding night, the young couple often knew nothing about sex, so they laid a "dowry painting" on the bed, making it look like a cat painting a tiger.
The record of "dowry painting" first appeared in the Han Dynasty, but in fact it was more common in the early years of the Republic of China, which shows that it has existed for a long time in the history of China. Zhang Heng, a writer in the Eastern Han Dynasty, once wrote "Simultaneous Songs", describing the feelings of men and women in the first person. Later generations spoke highly of this poem, saying that it was "beautiful without lewdness", "inspiring the future" and "describing the monarch with courtiers" and so on.
In addition to "dowry painting", there was also a tool of sex education in ancient China-"closet bottom". It is a kind of porcelain, some of which are smaller than fists. Its shape is mostly fruit-shaped, covered, and contains a pair of men and women who are having sex. Usually, people put it at the bottom of the box to ward off evil spirits. Before her daughter got married, her mother took out "Dunk Mitsui Hisashi at the Bottom of the Box" and opened the lid to let her daughter experience "the way of husband and wife".
Of course, sex education in ancient times was not only "suggestive guidance", but also some ancient books about sex were available for reading, but they were not so popular. When girls get married, nurses, midwives and young sisters may teach them; Sometimes little sisters sing folk songs at the bride's window. These folk songs have pornographic content. Singing folk songs is fun, but it also has the function of sexual enlightenment.
