Guizhou Medical University was founded in 1938 as the national Guiyang Medical College, which was one of the nine medical colleges directly under the Ministry of Education at that time. 1950 was placed under the management of Guizhou provincial people's government and renamed Guiyang medical college, and on 20 15 it was officially renamed Guizhou medical university.
