Cicada pictophonetic characters come from insects and are monosyllabic. Oracle Bone Inscriptions has this word (Cui 1536, Oracle Dictionary 1440), and Guo Moruo calls it cicada because it is interpreted as cicada.
The first case of cicada in the Western Han Dynasty was left "single" and right "worm", which was different from the normal left "worm" and right "single". In the second case, "single" and "two mouths" and "two" are normal official writing methods; Single "vertical pen slightly, slightly wrong." Single is simplified as single, and cicada is also simplified as cicada by analogy.
