A deputy ministerial level and a main department level, the president of Lanzhou University is one level older than the Education Department of Gansu Province.

Lanzhou University, referred to as "Lanzhou University" for short, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), directly under the central government, with a deputy ministerial level. It ranks among the first batch of "double-class (Class A)", "21Project" and "985 Project" universities in China, and has been selected as the national "Everest Plan" and "20 165438".

"Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents Education and Training Plan", "National College Students' Innovative Experimental Plan" and "Overseas High-level Talents Introduction Plan" are the first batch of universities and the first batch of postdoctoral research stations in China with the right to award bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. Approved by the Ministry of Education, a graduate school was established.
